Methods for nondestructive determination of the internal properties of wood PDF Print E-mail

The reflection of microwaves from twisted logs is modelled in order to find the twisting of a wooden log by remote sensing. Analytical methods are used and closed form solutions are presented for the low frequency and low twisting case. Alternative applications are the determination of bark thickness and localization of knots on the surface of wooden boards. Elastic waves are used in a similar way to localizw weak mechanical parts in wooden logs and boards.
