Börje Nilsson - Professor of Mathematical PhysicsEmail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Phone: +46 Office address: B2.... PG Vejdes 7 35195, Växjö Sweden Web My main research interest is mathematical modelling of wave phenomena. From a mathematical point of view it deals with scattering theory in wave guide systems. Primarily acoustic, electromagnetic and quantum waves are considered. Of special interest are acoustic waves in moving fluids where instability waves play an important role. Although there are important differences between, e.g., acoustic and electromagnetic waves, they have many fundamental features in common for making comparisons very rewarding. Thus, mathematical physics forms the scientific basis for my research. Technical applications, being close or distant in time, are important driving forces for my research. Usually, there is no incompatibility between a stringent mathematical analysis and usefulness. On the contrary, problems in industry are often complex and require advanced mathematical methods to achieve a sufficient accurate solution. My experience includes 13 years in industry including 6 years as adjunct professor in technical acoustics.
